Essential for Women Multivitamin 18

VeryWell Fit / Jaclyn Mastropasqua

It’s rare for us to highlight a specific supplement brand even when they are running a sale. Unlike leggings or fitness equipment, we know that not everyone may benefit from supplements—guidance is needed from a healthcare professional for if and when you need a supplement.

Even if a healthcare professional recommends a specific supplement, it can be hard to know what to look for when buying a supplement. We recommend supplements that have third-party testing, as this can ensure the ingredient label is accurate. It can also ensure a supplement has been tested for contaminants like heavy metals, banned substances, or microbial contamination.

We also prioritize supplements that have research-backed ingredients and like when minimal extra ingredients are added to supplements. In addition, we prioritize supplements that are free of the most common food allergens, so they can meet most people’s dietary needs. Some people may also prefer ingredients that are organic or Non-GMO certified.

Finding a supplement that checks all these boxes—and is budget-friendly—can be challenging. One brand we feel meets these criteria is Ritual. They have strong third-party testing and traceable, researched-backed ingredients. Their products are also plant-based and free of common food allergens, making them suitable for a variety of dietary needs.

While we know supplement needs are highly individualized, we think Ritual’s New Year sale of 30% off products, which runs now until January 10, 2023, is worth highlighting. If a supplement like a multivitamin or protein powder has been recommended for you, now may be a good time to try these at this rare sale price. However, keep in mind that just because a supplement is on sale, it doesn’t mean it’s the best choice for you.

Always speak with a healthcare professional before adding a supplement to your routine to ensure that the supplement is appropriate for your individual needs and which dosage to take.

Essential for Women Multivitamin 18+

Ritual

Buy Now: Ritual Essential for Women Multivitamin, $23 for one month supply (was $33)

Another thing we like about Ritual is you can buy them as a one-time supplement or as a subscription. Having a subscription for a multivitamin can ensure it always gets refilled on time and takes the hassle out of re-ordering before your supply runs out. Ritual Essential for Women Multivitamin is one of our favorite multivitamins for women because it has nutrients women may need more of, like iron, vitamin D, folate, vitamin B12, magnesium, and omega 3’s.

Be sure to check the label for any individual nutrient needs, as Ritual does not add certain nutrients like calcium and vitamin C to this multivitamin. They carefully formulate their vitamins to add the fewest ingredients they feel are necessary for most women. Also note this multivitamin is recommended as a two-pill-per-day serving—each bottle contains 60 capsules for a 30-day supply.

This product is USP-Verified for third-party testing, and as with all Ritual products, the ingredients are all traceable.

Essential for Women Multivitamin 50+

Ritual

Nutritional needs can change as we age, and Ritual recognizes that with their specific women 50+ multivitamin. It’s one of our favorite multivitamins for women over 50 because it has the omega 3’s, folate, vitamin B12, vitamin D, and magnesium that women over 50 might need, but it does not have iron. This is because iron needs for women go down after 50 years of age from 18 milligrams per day to just 8 milligrams.

Like the Essential for Women multivitamin, this one has a two-capsule dose per day, has third-party testing, and has traceable ingredients. Each bottle has 60 capsules for a 30-day supply.

Other Ritual Multivitamins on Sale:

Ritual has multivitamins available for many stages of life including kids, teens, prenatal, and postnatal. Similar to women, they offer men’s multivitamins for ages 18 to 49 years and one formulated specifically for men 50+ years.

Ritual’s Plant-Based Protein Powders Are 30% Off

Essential Protein Daily Shake 18+

Ritual

Buy Now: Ritual Essential Protein Daily Shake 18+, $28 (was $40)

Ritual’s plant-based protein is one of our favorite protein powders. It’s Informed-Sport Certified, made with traceable ingredients, and we like that it has choline added to it. Choline is an especially important nutrient when pregnant or breastfeeding, as it helps the nervous system, muscle control, and is needed for the membranes that surround body cells.

Most people don’t get enough recommended choline in their diet, so we appreciate that this Ritual protein has 150 milligrams of choline per serving. It also provides 20 grams of protein from organic peas, 19% of daily needs of iron, and 9% daily needs of calcium. With 330 milligrams of sodium per serving, it could also help replace electrolytes after exercise. It is vegan-friendly and free of common food allergens.

Ritual

Like the Essential Protein 18+, the Ritual Essential Protein 50+ still has the choline added, but it also has calcium HMB added. This is added specifically to a protein powder for those 50 years and older to help protect against age-related muscle loss, although more research is needed.

Each serving provides 20 grams of protein from organic peas, 200 milligrams of choline, 28% daily needs of calcium, and 15% daily needs of iron. It is one of our favorite vegan protein powders, as it can be used in many ways besides a protein shake or smoothie.
