Water is a building material for cell life, it regulates internal body temperature via sweat and respiration, helps metabolize nutrients, assists in flushing out waste through urination, acts as a shock absorber for brain, spinal cord, and fetus, forms saliva, and lubricates joints. If you typically drink sugar sweetened beverages like juices or sodas, try to slowly wean yourself off by swapping in a glass of water. It is especially important for people with diabetes to watch their consumption of sweet beverages because they can raise blood sugar very quickly. Some people with kidney problems may also need to watch their consumption of potassium (i.e. orange juice) and phosphorous (i.e. sodas) rich drinks. The bubbles in seltzer water give off a fizzy feeling without any added sugar. We want to hook you on water! It is the best beverage one can drink. Ingredients 1/4 cup blueberries 1/4 cup raspberries 1/4 cup blackberries tap water seltzer water Preparation Divide the berries among a 16 cube ice cube tray. Add tap water to cover and place in the freezer until frozen (best to do this a day ahead). To serve, place desired amount of ice cubes in a glass and top with selzter water. Ingredient Variations and Substitutions For extra zing, toss some fresh herbs and/or lemon zest with the berries before freezing into ice cubes. During the hot summer season, add the ice cubes to a batch of iced tea.
