She hosts the program’s popular “Joy Fit Club” series, which celebrates determined people who have lost more than 100 pounds through diet and exercise alone. To date, her club members have dropped an amazing 30,000 pounds collectively.
Her latest TODAY show series, “From Junk Food to Joy Food” was an instant hit and is the inspiration behind her new book and PBS special. As a huge fan of public television, Joy was thrilled to premiere her first show in 2014, “Joy Bauer’s Food Remedies,” which continues to air across the country. And now, she’s back with a brand new show, appropriately called “From Junk Food to Joy Food,” and is excited to share many more of her tasty recipes with the PBS audience.
Joy recently launched her own food line, Nourish Snacks with a mission to provide grab-and-go treats that taste as good as they are good for you. With a wide variety of flavors—everything from dark chocolate granola clusters to chili-citrus roasted corn—all of her blends are gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GMO, and made with wholesome, nutrient-rich ingredients.
As a monthly columnist for Woman’s Day magazine and the creator of JoyBauer.com, Joy continues to be a leader in developing and delivering fresh, cutting-edge health content to millions. She’s been featured countless times in prominent publications like The New York Times, Washington Post, People, US Weekly, Cosmo,Vogue, SELF, Glamour, and Wall Street Journal, to name a few. Joy is also the nutritionist for the New York City Ballet.
Passionate about delivering scientifically sound, realistic information to millions, Joy has received countless awards, including the National Media Excellence Award from two of the most esteemed organizations, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American Society of Nutrition Science.
When Joy’s not dishing out health advice or sharing delicious recipes on TV, you’ll find her making a mess in her kitchen or spending quality time at home with her husband, Ian, her three kids, Jesse, Cole, and Ayden Jane, and her furry fan, Gatsby.
Joy received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from University of Maryland and a Master of Science in clinical nutrition from New York University in New York, NY.
In the earlier part of her career, Joy was the director of nutrition and fitness for the department of pediatric cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY, as well as the clinical dietitian for their neurosurgical team. One of Joy’s most rewarding experiences was creating and implementing “Heart Smart Kids,” a health program for underprivileged children living in low-income communities. She also taught anatomy and physiology and sports nutrition at New York University's School of Continuing Education in New York, NY.
