Gluten-Free Stuffing Mixes for Thanksgiving

You might think it would be difficult to make your traditional stuffing for Thanksgiving gluten-free. However, it's actually not difficult at all. There are plenty of ready-to-make stuffing mixes for you to try. This list has some of our favorites. Once you add the spices and bake the turkey, it's quite possible that your guests will never even notice the stuffing isn't based on "traditional" gluten bread.


Aleia's Gluten-Free Stuffing

If you prefer the ease of working with a mix, you may want to try Aleia's Gluten-Free Stuffing Mixes, which come in either plain or savory. The mixes contain white rice flour, tapioca flour, and potato flour, plus milk, eggs, and yeast. Aleia's is certified gluten-free by the Celiac Sprue Association, which requires testing to below 5 parts per million of gluten (the lowest detectable level).

You'll still have to do a little work to pull the mix together — each box contains a recipe that calls for adding onions, carrots, celery, butter and gluten-free chicken stock. However, these mixes still should save you some time on Thanksgiving morning. You can buy them online or in stores in the northeastern states.


Glutino's Gluten-Free Stuffing Mix

This corn bread-style stuffing mix from Glutino contains corn starch and tapioca starch, vegetable oils, sugar, seasonings, egg whites and guar gum. Glutino warns it also may contain soy and milk.

Glutino tests its products to ensure they contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten.

Upscale food and cooking retailer Williams-Sonoma offers a corn bread savory gluten-free stuffing base seasoned with rosemary and sage. The stuffing contains soy and is made on equipment shared with eggs, milk, and tree nuts.
