8 Dance-Club Fitness Must-Haves for Women

When Going Out Means Working Out

Dancing is sexy, so why in the world would you wear a baggy t-shirt and running shorts to get your groove on? In today's world, "going out" often means grabbing your friends to head to a club-style dance workout, so you should choose high-function workout apparel that makes you look like you're going to a club.

If you're lucky enough to live in New York, your one-stop-shop should be Bandier, a shop that curates some of the highest fashion fitness apparel on the market, including the pieces featured above from Phat Buddha and ALALA. If, however, you're not in the Big Apple, that's what the Internet is for. You can blow the minds of your fellow dancers for your moves and your gear if you choose a few of the following pieces.

A Fun Crop Top

Show off your mid-drift in a crop tee with mesh shoulder panels from ALALA ($75). You'll look sexy without crossing a line, and the loose fit of the top maximizes breathability for your workout.

If you like bringing a sense of humor to your workout, consider the Puppies Make Me Happy Puppies and Fitness crop ($30). Pair it with a fun sports bra and baggy sweats and you'll look tough and adorable - perfect for a hard-hitting hip hop class.

Sexy Sports Bra

Phat Buddha

Worn alone or underneath a mesh top, this Phat Buddha 5th Avenue Sports Bra ($75) is both eye-catching and supportive. The straps are also adjustable for the perfect fit.

If you're going for a less "vamp" look, try the TKO Sports Bra from Avocado ($36). The color-blocking, contrast striping, and "Work. Sweat." statement keeps the bra sporty, but the low-cut v-neck amps up the sex appeal.

Club-Worthy Performance Leggings

Leather leggings won't work during a true workout, so look for a fitness imposter. I've fallen in love with FitFit's Lotus Leggings ($85). They come in five different colorways and feature a glossy, leather-like finish in a stretch fabric that's designed for activities like yoga, barre, and dance. You could even get away with wearing them out for drinks after your workout is done.

An Eye-Catching Coverup

Beloforte Cover Up

Skip the standard hoodie as you come and go from the gym, opting instead for a fashion-forward coverup, like this sweet and sexy Alessandra "Peek-A-Boo" top from Beloforte ($90). The lightweight silk and rayon fabric is slightly see-through, offering a glimpse of whatever's underneath, while the wide cut-outs across the upper chest and back show a little skin, without giving away too much.

Sexy Crops

Beloforte Sienna Crop Legging

You don't need to wear full-length leggings every time you hit the studio. Keep things fun and a little bit scandalous (in only the best sort of way) with a pair of Sienna Cropped Leggings from Beloforte ($135). That design you see? Those are carefully placed laser cutouts that have been body-mapped to show off some serious skin, while still covering up the goods. Plus, the cutouts allow for movement and breathability that you're unlikely to get from your standard spandex.

A Move-With-You Tank

CS by City Sports

When you don't want to show off your mid-drift, opt for a tank that sits close to your body without feeling confining. I love the wicking fabric, pleats and adjustable tie at the hem of this CS by City Sports Charming Tank ($30). You can wear it during your workout, or you can wear it as an "athleisure" top when hanging out with friends.

A Great Bag

Carry your gear to and from the gym (or maybe even work) with a duffel bag that's designed to be seen. The Lululemon High Mileage Duffel ($128) has a wet-dry pocket for sweaty gear, a zippered compartment for athletic shoes, a slip for flip flops, and additional interior and exterior pockets to help keep you organized. Plus, it's designed to carry up to 50-pounds. That means you can easily pack all your beauty supplies inside to get ready for a night on the town after your workout.

A Studio Shoe

While some dance classes are designed to be done barefoot, many of the high-intensity, high-impact cardio dance workouts are best performed with shoes. By choosing a dance shoe, rather than a traditional athletic shoe, you'll be able to spin, slide and move with greater ease (dance shoes have less traction on the bottom). The ASICS GEL-RHYTHMIC 2 ($65) is one possible option.
