Best Overall: Independent Skateboard Trucks 129mm Stage 11

Independent Skateboard Trucks 129mm Stage 11

The Independent Stage 11 skateboard trucks are not flashy. This set of two trucks comes in a simple silver color with a metallic finish—none of the bells or whistles of flashier trucks on the market. However, this reasonably priced set of trucks is well made, durable, and smooth riding. There’s a reason why these trucks have a near perfect Amazon rating.

The Independent trucks work on just about any type of skateboard and are ideal for decks between 8 and 7.4 inches in width. Featuring a 356 T6 aluminum hanger and baseplate as well as a Chromoly steel axle, these trucks are tough and lightweight. Additionally, you get Supercrush cushions and a grade 8 kingpin with this set. The 55-millimeter high trucks don’t hang up on grinds and have improved clearance.

Additionally, these US-made trucks boast great turning ability and stability. The only negative to these trucks is that they don’t come with hardware to attach to your deck.

Best Budget: LiteZpeed Trucks

If you want to replace the trucks on your board, you don’t need to overspend. LiteZpeed offers budget trucks with plenty of extra gear for one low price. Not only does the LiteZpeed set feature high quality and inexpensive trucks, but customers also get ABEC 9 bearings, polyurethane skateboard wheels and the hardware to connect it all to the deck.

These LiteZpeed trucks have a 5.25 hangar, 8.0 axles, and urethane bushings. The majority of each truck is composed of aluminum for a light ride that’s strong and won’t rust. The trucks work best on boards with 8.5- to 7.5-inch decks. Despite the low price for such an array of skateboard gear (everything except the board!), the manufacturer explains that there’s no concerns of an axle snapping or a bolt breaking when you’re doing an ollie because of the quality of hardware and materials.

Most Durable: Cal 7 Skateboard Trucks Combo Package

If you’re going to spend the time and money investing in and installing new trucks for your board, it’s important to get ones that will last. But searching for trucks with quality hardware, durable axles, and solid construction can be difficult. Luckily the Cal 7 Longboard Trucks combo set has it all. This set prizes durability and functionality and works well on a range of skateboard sizes and types.

The sleek Cal 7 impress at first glance with their smooth silver or black finish and shiny metal hardware finishes. The trucks are made of a strong aluminum that will put up with the wear and tear of weather and use, for a durable piece that also doesn’t add weight to your board. The 5-inch trucks work well on 7.5- to 8-inch decks while the 5.25-inch trucks are better for 8- to 8.5-inch decks. Both sizes have the same tough construction.

This combo set also comes with 52-millimeter 99A wheels, ABEC 7 bearings and the hardware to attach it all together. Customers can choose from dozens of style options with the Cal 7 trucks combo set. Either silver or black trucks can be paired with wheels that are green, blue, bright yellow, or many other vibrant colors.

Best Lightweight: Havoc Trucks

Havoc trucks look a little different than most other options on the market. They seem to simply have less material. The result of these skinny trucks is that you have a much lighter-weight board without missing any of the function of other great trucks. Additionally, the lightweight aluminum alloy composition keeps the trucks strong without adding unnecessary weight.

Available in light blue, pink, green, and more, these trucks are a fun way to make your board stick out as well. They fit a wide range of board types and sizes, with an ideal fit on a 7.75-inch deck. They are designed for 52-millimeter 99A wheels. The Havoc trucks come with all the hardware you need for mounting as well as grip tape and wheels.

Customers love these trucks because they feel broken-in from the get-go and deliver a bundle of hardware at a low price. Havoc’s trucks are lightweight and perfect for kids or beginners who are starting to work on their own boards.

Best for Street: Destructo D1 Black Mid Trucks

With low trucks you get a much more stable ride and easier landing from ollies and other tricks, but you’ll also have more wheel bite and may need risers. With a high truck, you lose stability and landing ease, but you gain more turning radius and an easier ability to do tricks. However, when you’re riding on the street, covering pavement for travel and tricks, neither option is optimal. Instead, you want a reliable mid-height truck balancing turning, stability, and tricks.

The Destructo D1 is an excellent mid-height street truck for skateboarders. Made of “weapons-grade aluminum” and thermo-hardened axles, the Destructo trucks are tough enough for the streets. These mid-height trucks make turns easy and boast Superformula bushings and pivots. The 5-inch trucks work well on decks between 7.625 and 7.875 inches. This set of two trucks carries a lifetime guarantee.

Best Low Height: Independent Silver 139mm Stage 11 Trucks

Although mid-height trucks are great for street riding, many people prefer a low height truck for the skate park, choosing stability and smooth landing over a larger turning radius. Low-height trucks are ideal for tricks. Independent Trucks’ Silver 139-millimeter trucks are an excellent high quality and no-frills low height truck option.

These 4140 Chromoly steel axles are durable and have a fantastic, raw silver hue. The US-made trucks may be known to true skater heads as an updated version of the Independent Stage 10 trucks, now featuring a better-drilled baseplate for improved balance. The trucks have a grade 8 kingpin and a high center of gravity. The truck’s 8-inch axle makes this hardware ideal for decks any size between 7.5- and 8.5-inches.

Best for Speed: BEAR Grizzly 852 Trucks

What skateboarder isn’t looking for some speed when they move? Speed means momentum and momentum means an easier ride, and it all starts with the trucks. The BEAR Grizzly 852 trucks are a great option for anyone looking to upgrade their stock hardware for something with a bit more zip.

The 852 is a 181-millimeter truck made completely of high grade, durable aluminum. With the 852s on your board, you have your choice of ride. In one orientation you can really lean into your turns and “carve” it up or you can flip the hanger for a more stable ride.

BEAR cares about versatility and it shows in the 852s. The 13-hole mounting system allows you to painlessly connect your new trucks to your favorite deck regardless of if it has a new or old mounting style. Additionally, these trucks fit just about any size or shape of bushings. Available in bright and fun colors such as a vibrant orange or flat neon green, everyone will be asking you about your fast trucks.

Best for Longboard: Caliber Trucks Cal II 50 Degree RKP Longboard Trucks

Great trucks are a key component of a great longboard. Whether you prefer a carvy ride or something more stable when you ride across campus or around with friends, you really rely on good trucks with a longboard. Caliber Truck Co makes some of the best ones out there with the Cal II 50-degree RKP longboard trucks.

These sleek and smooth trucks come in a variety of colors including black, blue, red, gold, and light purple. The adjustable trucks can be installed to be much more carvy or stable depending on your preference and can be changed with ease if you change your riding style.

The Caliber II is an improvement on the Caliber I by offering a much stronger construction. Additionally, this longboard truck features a non-slip bushing seat for more predictable movement and added stability. The Caliber II has a tighter fit for the pivot pin, better contact area with the bushing, and a better kingpin than past trucks. All of these technical improvements simply lead to a better ride.
