In the free version, you can get access to a lot of features, and offers two different 5 to 10-minute ab workouts for both men and women. You're taken step-by-step through each exercise in videos demonstrated by a certified personal trainer, and the exercises target all major abdominal muscles. The on-screen instructions and a helpful timer will keep you focused and on track throughout.

The paid version of the app gives you more workouts, both random and the ability to create custom workouts of your own, a "landscape" mode for wider viewing field, and is ad-free.


The MyFitnessPal app helps you track your daily calorie intake by making it easy with a huge database of more than 5 million foods—a list that is continually being added to and expanded. It's very easy to enter your meals, and it remembers your favorites.

The app connects with other devices and apps, including Fitbit, Garmin, Jawbone UP, Runkeeper, MapMyFitness, Healthkit, and others. Its recipe importer makes adding foods from recipes you find on the Web simply by importing it. You can also view progress reports, track your nutrient intake, set goals and much more. Create an online profile for free and you can access exercises, workout routines and earn badges for fitness accomplishments.

Another workout app created by Daily Workout Apps, Daily Butt Workout also offers two workouts, these designed to tone up your butt. They're 5 to 10 minutes long and work for both men and women. As other apps in this series, there are videos showing you how to perform the exercises as demonstrated by a personal trainer, as well as on-screen instructions and timer. There is also a paid version of the app with more exercises, custom routines, and no ads.

RunKeeper — GPS Track Run Walk

Created by FitnessKeeper, Inc., RunKeeper gives you a wealth of tools to optimize your walks and runs. You can find pre-planned routes, or you can map your own walk or run. The app integrates with your smartphone's music player so you can listen to music and get audio updates on total mileage, pace, speed and calorie count. The app syncs with popular devices such as Pebble or Android Wear smartwatch, as well as your Polar Heart Rate Monitor. 

This app offers a lot for the casual walker all the way up to the competitive marathoner.

Diet Assistant — Weight Loss

From Alportela Labs, Diet Assistant is a diet planner for either men or women to help you reach your weight loss goals. By selecting your target weight and defining your aim for the new diet, the app will offer meal options designed to help you achieve your goal. Diet plans include a range geared toward specific restrictions, including:

  • Vegetarian
  • High protein
  • Low GI
  • Healthy
  • Pescatarian

Each plan includes a shopping list to make stocking up for your new diet easier. You can even take photos to include in an album to track your progress visually, in addition to the statistics that are tracked.

Push Ups

From Ritter Labs, the Push Ups fitness app aims to be your personal trainer in helping you increase your push-up ability. Whether you're able to only do 5 pushups or 100, the app can adjust your exercise regimen to build at your own pace.
