Alena Kharlamenko, MS, RDN, CDN, is a registered dietitian with a passion for translating complicated health and nutrition research into easily digestible information. She has written for LIVESTRONG, Healthline, Today's Dietitian, and PlateJoy, and has been featured in national media outlets like Cooking Light, EatingWell, Everyday Health, and Food Network.  

She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings counseling patients with heart disease, diabetes, and other chronic health conditions. For several years, Alena served as a pediatric endocrinology and diabetes dietitian at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore. She’s also passionate about gut health and is a Monash University FODMAP-Trained Dietitian. 

Using her wide range of experience and expertise, Alena now focuses on health communications, writing, editing, and recipe development. She publishes health-promoting, plant-forward recipes on her food and nutrition blog, alenamenko.com, and provides nutrition communications consulting services for food, technology, and lifestyle brands. 

Education

Alena received a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Western Michigan University and a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition from New York University.

She completed a Dietetic Internship & Clinical Residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (affiliated with Cornell and Columbia).
